Serious fun! Serious Rewards!

St Catherine's School is an experienced operator of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. This exciting program encourages students to challenge themselves in four areas - Skills, Volunteering, Physical Recreation and Adventurous Journey.

The program is designed to promote personal growth, enterprise and a broad range of life skills, as well as a sense of social awareness and responsibility. Each young person sets individual goals according to her interests.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award comprises three Levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold, each demanding a different amount of effort and commitment. At the successful completion of each level, participants receive a certificate and badge that are recognised in more than 100 countries around the world.

In Year 9, all students at St Catherine's are required to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award. The Adventurous Journey component for the Bronze Award is fulfilled by the outdoor education expedition all girls complete through our Beyond Boundaries program.

In Year 10 students have the opportunity to complete their 10 Day Expedition required for the Silver Award through their Beyond Boundaries experience.

From Year 10 onwards, students are given the chance to plan their own trips, in whatever form of transport that they wish - bushwalking, cycling, horse riding, canoeing and rafting are all offered. Year 11 and 12 students working towards their Gold Award organise all aspects of their trip including arranging a venue, equipment, food and transportation.
