Our Sports and Aquatic Centre Launch!
The Sports and Aquatic Centre will provide our students with indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a 25 metre pool with six lanes sized for squad training, a learners' pool, 1 metre diving board, gymnasium/exercise room, flexible classroom for health and physical education, a sick bay and spectator seating for 250, together with offices for sports and aquatic staff.
Our Sports and Aquatic Centre Project, the first project in The Campaign for St Catherine's, was officially launched at a Ceremony on 14 August. We are now looking forward to the next stage - the demolition and preparation of the site, to be commenced in the September term break.
The ‘turning of the soil’ ceremony marked the culmination of many people’s hopes and dreams. Our Patron, Lady Southey AC, our Chair of the Campaign, Mr Wayne Kent, our Chair of School Council, Mrs Meg Begg, many members of Council, plus parents and those involved in the Project's construction were in attendance, and the sun even came out on the day!
When Lady Southey AC turned over the first soil, there was a real sense of achievement and excitement, not only about the building but about the wonderful level of sporting excellence that our School achieves. We are extremely proud of the high participation rate we have with sport, from Prep to Year 12.
