Rowing into the Record Books!

The St Catherine's Rowing Club has had a relatively short but illustrious history. Starting in 1987, the program has become one of the largest and most successful in the country. We were especially proud that our First Eight placed Third at the Australian Rowing Championships and a Second (0.026 seconds behind Geelong Grammar) at the Head of the Schoolgirls Regatta in 2009 - amazing achievements! St Catherine's was the only school to be on the podium at the Nationals in both 2008 and 2009.

Based at the Power House Rowing Club on the Yarra River, St Catherine's rowers travel great distances each year to attend State and National Championships, various club regattas and the annual Head of the Schoolgirls Regatta, in which the School has enjoyed much success.

After students leave School, girls are provided with the opportunity to develop their coaching skills as part of the St Catherine's Rowing Club coach development program.

The St Catherine's Rowing Program Vision is to:

  • Enhance the physical, mental and personal development of students through the enjoyment of rowing
  • Challenge girls to achieve their personal best through team and commitment
  • Foster friendships and school spirit amongst rowers, coaches, parents and staff.

The Heyington Club Auxiliary

The Auxiliary is affiliated with the St Catherine's Parents' and Friends' Association, comprising St Catherine's families. This Club supports the advancement and promotes the enjoyment of the School's Rowing program. The fundraising activities run by the Club enable the purchase of new boats, oars and other rowing equipment for our Rowing girls.
